Sam did so well for his senior pictures last week! I have known Sam for a while as he and Dylan have been in hockey together for the last 6 years. We did some bright and fun hockey – GOALIE – gear pictures that I think suit Sam’s personality pretty well. I think goalies are a unique and awesome breed of person and hockey player….I know several of them! 🙂 Sam has competed and placed well in several computer competitions and hopes to pursue that after high school in some way. We (I should say Sam and his Mom Karen) hauled Sam’s bike into the studio, and tried for a bit of a Mad Men look in some of Sam’s other portraits. Hope you like them…and if you do be sure to leave a comment for Sam in the “comments” section below!
Last night I had the honor of photographing one of my beautiful senior models Autumn! It was a gorgeous day….nice and cool and very little wind. Autumn’s Dad Dale drove their yellow convertible to the studio so we could use it for some of the portraits. I love when clients bring their own “props.” Click the “play” button on the image below to see the slideshow of my favorites. Don’t you love her hat? It’s so very fun how Autumn’s name fits her beautiful looks…her red hair and freckles! Which would not mean half as much if she was not also the total sweetheart that she is.
It was such fun spending a few hours with Autumn and her parents. I used to work for Dale and Jill and hanging out brought back lots of memories of the fun times we had back then. I hope you enjoy these favorites from Autumn’s session!
What a blessing it was to photograph this young lady last week in Western Michigan! I remember when Teresa, a dear college friend, called me several years after college to tell me she and Rob had just become parents to a sweet little girl. Her name was…Vanessa. I was eight months pregnant with our firstborn too, hormones in full swing. I remember being overwhelmed with joy, and also slightly jealous that Teresa was for now, through with being pregnant. 🙂
That sweet baby is now ready to be a high school senior at Western Michigan Christian High. Vanessa is a volleyball and basketball player, and plans to attend college and someday work with children in some way. I was so glad to be asked to take senior portraits of her. These portraits were taken around Vanessa’s family home as well as in Pentwater Michigan at the Mears State Park beach. The day after the session the kids and I were invited to the Country Dairy Farm Store, the family business, for ice cream cones (I had peanut butter cup) and (only the best in the world) chocolate milk.
Even though it was not the first time I photographed a session in Michigan, it was the first time I photographed someone with whom I share my name. It was lovely. Thank you dear Vanessa.
Sweet little Miss Summer came to play this week and took her big brother and sister along. It has been pure joy watching Summer change and grow over the last year. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from her one year session! Thank you to Bryn and Noah for all the help getting Summer to smile such sweet smiles!
I was so excited to find out that Nigel and Lindsay were expecting a little girl, and even more excited when they asked me to photograph her and her two big brothers. Newborn sessions are so very special, because it is such a short stage of life that I feel captures the miracle of a new life. We got some nice images with the family, and then had some session time with just Miss Halle. She slept like a champ through most of the session, and ended the session with the beautiful serious gaze in the last image. You will notice the cute headbands and t shirts, they are from The Pinkadink.
